History on Bayerns side for Madrid turnaround

Real Madrid face an uphill task to overturn a 2-1 deficit when they host Bayern Munich in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final on Tuesday.

The Spanish giants have a poor record in Munich, having won just once in their last six visits to the Allianz Arena.

Bayern, meanwhile, have won their last four home games in the competition and have not lost at home in the Champions League since March 2019.

History, therefore, suggests that Bayern are favorites to progress to the final, but Real Madrid will be looking to draw inspiration from their recent record against German opposition.

The Spanish giants have won their last three games against German teams, including a 3-1 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach in the group stage of this season's Champions League.

Real Madrid will also be buoyed by the fact that they have a strong squad available for the game, with only Dani Carvajal and Ferland Mendy missing through injury.

Bayern, on the other hand, will be without the suspended Robert Lewandowski and the injured Leon Goretzka.

The stage is set for a fascinating clash between two of the most successful clubs in European history.
