Nerlens Noel Signs with New York Knicks
Three-Year, $27.72 Million Contract Announced
Kings and Nets Also Express Interest
NEW YORK, NY - Free agent center Nerlens Noel has officially inked a three-year, $27.72 million contract with the New York Knicks, the team announced Friday. The deal includes a $27.72 million guaranteed salary.
Noel's signing comes after weeks of speculation about his future following his departure from the Philadelphia 76ers. The Knicks emerged as the frontrunners for his services in recent days, beating out reported interest from the Sacramento Kings and Brooklyn Nets.
The Kings had previously agreed to a deal with Noel, but the center ultimately chose to sign with the Knicks. The Nets, meanwhile, reportedly offered Noel a 10-day contract, but he declined their offer.
Noel, 27, is a five-year NBA veteran who has averaged 7.8 points and 7.4 rebounds per game over his career. He is expected to provide a much-needed boost to the Knicks' frontcourt, which has struggled to find consistency this season.
