Zach Arnett is not only the lone rookie among the Southeastern Conferences' 14 coaches, he's also the youngest and the first of Hispanic descent in the league. The 36-year-old New Mexico native began this season as the SEC's youngest head coach and the first of Hispanic descent in league history.
Arnett began his coaching career at San Diego State before joining Mississippi State in 2018. He was promoted to defensive coordinator in 2020 and helped lead the Bulldogs to an 8-4 record in 2021.
Arnett was named Mississippi State's head coach in December 2021 and has since led the Bulldogs to a 4-3 record in his first season. He's the first Hispanic head coach in SEC history and just the second Hispanic head coach in the Power Five conferences.
